What sound does a tennis ball make?

Pretty sure it's not "bing."

But the 3D ball sticking out of this ad caught my eye. It has to be a reference to the US Open in town. But I have no idea what the message is. They're not a sponsor, so am I supposed to search for US Open on bing?
If so, I guess it worked.

Can you lessen the ecological impact of your ads?

According to Terracycle, in the US alone we send 3 million billboards a year to landfills -- about 10,000 tons of vinyl.
And since I’m still lusting after a Freitag bag, I like this project from Target.

They're turning the latest edition of their Times Square billboard into limited edition bags. You can see the bags and artists here.

Yak Pak and vyandelle also have cool products made from reclaimed billboards.
Hat tip to GreenDaily for the info.

If you're looking for love does it matter what you look like?

Of course it does. But a sense of humor helps too.

So I think this flirty, fun tone is right on for a makeup brand.

¿Cómo se dice retro?

Back from vacation and I’m happy to report that I only thought about advertising once for over 10 days. I couldn’t help myself when I saw these cool ads in Puerto Rico.

Vacation

Ask A Copywriter will return after Labor Day.
Cheers.

Do you need to relax?

I’m setting sail today on a Caribbean cruise, so here are a few Corona ads I haven’t posted yet to put you in the same mood I’m enjoying.

Summerbration.com gives you a different reason to celebrate every day of the summer (and of course recommendations for bars serving Corona specials.)

Do you still love Whitney?

A lot of lyric references to remind you why you should be excited about her new album and free concert in Central Park for Good Morning America.

Should you think of advertising as preventive medicine?

Duane Reade is so ubiquitous in NYC that it'd be easy to think that they don’t need to run ads. But we’re coming out of a recession and CVS and Walgreens are slowing making inroads on their turf.

Do you want to be famous?

You can argue that social media makes it easy for anyone to become famous today. But I think meaningful and lasting attention requires real talent and hard work.

Debbie Allen said it best, "You want fame? ... Well, fame costs. And right here is where you start paying. With sweat."
It's true whether you perform on a stage or in an ad agency.

But I'm still going to pretend that my wife is making me go see this.

You can learn everything about the movie and add your photo to the "Wall of Fame" at GenerationFame.com.
They’re also doing a talent search at Six Flags theme parks, which I’m amazed they’re not turning into a reality TV show.
