Bottoms up

Maker's Mark has blanketed the subway under Grand Central with ads.

Sure, they put this ad over a set of stairs. But does anyone believe that's what's they were thinking when they presented "Great going down" to the client?
Anyway, here's the rest of the campaign:

  1. So you don't think we'd (I work at Doe-Anderson, the agency responsible) intend to put the "great going down" placement over stairs?

We may be from Kentucky, but we're more clever than you think. Heh.

Seriously, we appreciate the sharing and hope everyone knows the ads, like the bourbon are a matter of personal taste. We hope most folks enjoy them.

Thanks again for showing them off.

some are good, some did remind me of neil french, while some are just attempts by ad students. hate the cab yellow one, what the heck? lose your branding over an idea? That's just bad.

  3. Maker's Mark frequently does specialty bottles with different colored wax. So I wouldn't say the cab one is off brand. Even if that wasn't the case, I like it when a company is willing to have a little fun with their brand.

Some of these are better than others, but that's to be expected when there's so many. It's a little overkill, but it appears that a lot of companies are doing this "blanket ad" thing.

For the record, I grew up in Louisville.
Of course the agency put the "going down" ad over stairs on purpose. But you can't read that line without thinking of oral sex. And it's a matter of opinion on if that's a bad thing or not.
